Thank you to everyone who donated during last night's Chicago Jack Summit! With your help, we reached our goal of $1000 to help keep WNUR on the air for another year! And a special thanks to all the DJs who came out to make it possible.

If you missed the show, you can download it in the "mixes":http://www.djsangre.com/mixes section. And if you donate $10 by Thursday, you can get a clean recording of the 5-hour mix without all our talking and begging for money on it. Just call 847-491-9687 and tell them you want to donate to Streetbeat. Then ask for the "Jack Summit Mix."

Long live Chicago house!</body>

This Monday on "The Fringe":http://streetbeat.wnur.org/schedule.html, the Belgians invade! I'll be teaming up with D-VO of "Rhythm Mechanics":http://www.rhymech.com/ to host a 3-hour set starring three of Belgium's jackin house gurus: David Foyh (Beaubar, Jacksteppers), Jensen (Decadance, What's Cookin), and Ricardo (Gourmand Music, Herbal Essence). Former guest of "The Fringe" "Jeff Bloom":http://bloom.dj/ is hosting them at "Uptown Lounge":http://uptownlounge.net/ this coming Friday, 1/22. Let's just hope they brought some of those highly alcoholic Belgian ales with them...

Sometimes living in Chicago has its perks--despite the 5-degree temperatures. Last night was one of those times. For the first time in a long time, former guest of "The Fringe" "Johnny Fiasco":http://johnnyfiasco.com/Home.html shared a bill with the legendary "Derrick Carter":http://www.facebook.com/pages/Derrick-Carter/8264478846. The result was a seven-hour jack fest that shook the foundations of "ohm":http://www.ohmnightlife.com/. Promoted by the same folks who do "Boom Boom Room":http://chicago.timeout.com/events/house-techno-electro/50376/boom-boom-room, "Red Dog":http://chicago.timeout.com/articles/clubs/81779/interview-with-red-dogs-joey-swanson-and-dj-derrick-carter is a new Saturday night party that seeks to restore the sound of underground house to the ecosystem of Chicago's weekend nightlife. After witnessing last night's bonanza, I'm cautiously optimistic that they just might pull it off...</body>
