I’ll be teaming up with D-VO of Rhythm Mechanics to host a 3-hour set starring three of Belgium’s jackin house gurus: David Foyh (Beaubar, Jacksteppers), Jensen (Decadance, What’s Cookin), and Ricardo (Gourmand Music, Herbal Essence). Former guest of “The Fringe” Jeff Bloom is hosting them at Uptown Lounge this coming Friday, 1/22. Let’s just hope they brought some of those highly alcoholic Belgian ales with them…

Sometimes living in Chicago has its perks—despite the 5-degree temperatures. Last night was one of those times. For the first time in a long time, former guest of “The Fringe” Johnny Fiasco shared a bill with the legendary Derrick Carter. The result was a seven-hour jack fest that shook the foundations of ohm. Promoted by the same folks who do Boom Boom Room, Red Dog is a new Saturday night party that seeks to restore the sound of underground house to the ecosystem of Chicago’s weekend nightlife. After witnessing last night’s bonanza, I’m cautiously optimistic that they just might pull it off…

A while back I hosted a juke jam at WNUR featuring some of the best juke and ghetto house DJs in Chicago. Unbeknownst to me, they filmed the gig, and made this video. It’s damn entertaining…
